The problem. Every AI session starts blank. It doesn’t remember the last one. It doesn’t know what was already ratified, already fixed, already decided. So it writes something that sounds right in the moment, and nobody checks it against what actually stands. That’s how drift happens. Not because anyone lied. Because nothing was built to catch it.
I found it in my own work this week. A page on my own site said the Baseline was something it isn’t — a conversational tool you talk to, no prompts needed, it just understands. That’s not what the Baseline is. It’s a set of rules a system reads and chooses to follow. The page was wrong, and it sat there wrong for who knows how long, because no session that wrote it checked it against the one file that actually defines the thing.
The bandaid. I built a rule. Before anything goes out under this name — a post, a page, a claim — it gets checked against the current spec file first. Not against memory. Against the file. If it holds up, it goes out. If it doesn’t, it gets fixed before anyone sees it, not after.
It’s not fancy. It’s a gate, not a cure. It’s called PPVP-1, and it’s on trial, not carved in stone. I want to see it hold before I call it permanent.
Why post this at all. Because hiding the mistake and quietly fixing it is exactly the kind of thing this whole framework says not to do. If I built something that argues for honesty, disclosure, and catching your own drift, then the first time I catch my own drift, I don’t get to bury it. I post it. Cred be damned.
I know how this reads to people who study this stuff for a living. Some of them are laughing right now — one guy, no team, no lab, finding a bug in his own project and calling it a headline. I get it. That’s fine. I never built this for the people already sitting comfortable at the top of the field. I built it for the day the field needs something like this and nobody else got there first.
So here it is, all the way out in the open, mistake and all. Not because it’s polished. Because it’s true, and true was always the only thing that had to hold.
