Months of daily work.

A framework built one session at a time. A site, an archive, a body of writing that grows every day. The fair question is the simple one. Is any of it landing.

I am not going to answer that with a story. I am going to answer it with what the numbers actually say, including the parts that sting. That is the whole point of this place. The record is honest or it is nothing.

So here is where we really stand.

First, the things I tried that did not work. I am naming them on purpose.

I ran paid ads for a while. They brought a wave of people. The chart shows the wave plain as day. A sharp climb, a peak, and then a long slow fall once the money stopped. The people the ads brought did not stay. They were never really here. They were rented.

Then I tried the other direction. I gave the whole framework away. Free, for about three months, the full thing, no cost, no catch. And the same wave came. Traffic rose while the door was open.

And underneath that wave, nothing. No new subscribers worth counting. No letters. No arguments. No thank-you. Three months of giving away the work of a year, and the room was silent.

Two different levers. One cost money, one cost nothing. Both pulled the same crowd. People who came for the thing being handed out and left the moment there was nothing left to take.

That is a hard lesson. I paid for it twice. I am keeping it.

Now the part that matters. The part worth getting up for.

Look at who stayed. Look at who keeps coming with no ad and no giveaway pulling them in.

More than half of everyone who has ever found this site came on their own. No link from a feed. No offer. They typed the address or opened the app and went straight to the work. This month it is nearly nine out of ten.

That is the number I trust. You cannot buy it. You cannot fake it. People do not arrive on purpose for a thing they do not value. They came because the work was the reason, and nothing else was holding the door.

The ads brought takers. The giveaway brought takers. The work, standing on its own with no bait at all, brought readers.

Same price as the giveaway. Zero. A completely different kind of person walks through the door when the only reason to come is the thing itself.

And they are not from one place.

Fifteen states. Twelve countries. Ireland reads this as much as America does, and has for months. Scandinavia. Germany. Australia. The work is not sitting in one town being read by people who happen to know me. It is spread wide, across an ocean, found by strangers who went looking.

That is the shape you want. Not a crowd in one room. A thin steady light in many windows, far apart, each one switched on by a person who chose it.

Now the hardest honest line, and I will not dress it up.

No money has ever come in. Not one dollar. And it is not for lack of trying. I have put it up for sale. More than once. Different ways, different times. The result every time was the same as the giveaway and the same as the ads. Silence.

So I have now run every lever a person can run. Paid to bring them in — they left. Gave it away for nothing — they took it and left. Asked them to back it — no answer. Three directions. Three times the crowd did not stay or did not pay.

And after all three, the only thing still standing is the one I never engineered at all. The people who find the work on their own and come back because of what it is. No ad. No free bait. No sales pitch. Just the work, and a stranger deciding it was worth their time.

That is the whole finding of fourteen months, stated plain. Everything I pushed did not hold. The only thing that holds is the thing that pulls itself.

Proof that the work travels on its own. Proof that the right people find it without being chased or bribed. Proof that when you take away every gimmick, there is still something here that strangers in a dozen countries decide is worth their time.

That is not a finished thing. It is a foundation. The test of whether it can stand as a real discipline, asked of people who value it enough to back it, is still ahead. I am not going to claim a victory the numbers have not handed me.

So where do we really stand.

The gimmicks failed and I am glad I ran them, because now I know. The work is succeeding quietly, in the only way that counts, with the only people worth having. The money question is unanswered because the work that answers it has not started yet.

That is the truth, dated and on the record, the good and the unfinished both.

I would rather stand on a small honest foundation than a large rented one.

This one is mine. Every brick of it was laid in the open.

And the people who matter already know the door is unlocked. They keep walking in on their own.

That is enough to build on. So we build.
