You need to keep your nerve while your bank account goes down and your friends get tired of hearing about it. You need to be right, and being right is the easy part. The hard part is still standing there at year three.
They know that. It is not an accident. The cost of beating them is set high on purpose, and it is set right at the line where a working person breaks.
Most people break. That is not weakness. That is arithmetic. You cannot fight a company for five years on a paycheck that does not cover five months.

So what are people going to do about it?
They are not going to march. I want to be honest about that. There is not going to be a movement.
They are going to do what working people always do with a thing that is too big to fight head on.
They are going to work around it. They are going to stop believing what it tells them. They are going to nod at the screen and then go ask a real person. They are going to quietly decide that whatever comes out of that box is a starting point at best and a lie at worst, and they are going to stop saying so out loud because saying so gets you nowhere.
That is already happening. Look at any comment section under any story about AI and you will find it.
That quiet walking away does more damage than any protest ever could.
A protest gives you something to answer. It puts a face on the objection and a demand on the table and it can be negotiated with. Erosion cannot. You cannot negotiate with a man who simply stopped believing you.
A tool nobody trusts is worthless no matter how good it gets. You can make it faster and smarter every six months and it will not matter one bit, because the problem was never capability. It was that it talks like it has earned the right to be believed and it has not earned anything.
They are going to lose the room and they are not going to notice until the room is empty.
